Karelia UAS concluded its employee co-operation negotiations regarding the Degree Programme in Music and the Degree Programme in Information and Communications Technology Karelia University of Applied Sciences has been subject to employee co-operation negotiations concerning the teaching staff and the support staff for teaching working for the Degree Programme in Music and the Degree Programme in Information and Communications Technology on 8th January – 19th February 2018. The negotiations have now been concluded. The negotiations were based on productive and economic reasons as a consequence of downsizing the operations of Karelia UAS and terminating certain UAS activities. The abovementioned degree programmes are subject to termination as the last intake of students was in summer 2015. The concluded co-operation negotiations dealt with possible reductions in the number of staff and reorganisation of duties for years 2018-2019. The current estimated number of reductions by the end of year 2019 is 7.3 man-years, including the reduction of 2.7 man-years by the end of year 2018. Terminations of employment and shifts to part-time work concern 10 employees. A part of the reductions is also implemented in form of retirement arrangements. The estimated extent of the reductions at the beginning of the co-operation negotiations was 12 man-years at most. The current extent of the reductions is estimated to be 8 man-years at most.
