International experts with higher education as an asset in Eastern Finland

Is your company or organization employee for a foreign with university degree, or are you thinking of hiring such a specialist? Or did you recently lose such an expert to elsewhere, despite of being instructed?

New Finnish language and work culture coaching is being piloted in North Karelia to meet the needs of companies, with the aim of improving the possibilities for international experts to stay in the region. Aducate Center for Training and Development at University of Eastern Finland and Karelia University of Applied Sciences together with the KOVAT project are building new ways of coaching at workplaces. We also help international students and jobseekers to identify and share their expertise with companies or other open vacancies. In the KOVAT project, language and working life coaches come to the workplace and provide easy practical tips to activate the Finnish language of a foreign worker in the work community.

The companies join the project with a small financial contribution, while for international experts the sparring is free and both the unemployed, students and returnees can participate. During the past half year, more than 40 international experts in the region have participated to our trainings. The KOVAT network also builds a simpler service path for companies that employ foreign workers. We invite companies to join this development!

Now is the time to join the project. If you are thinking at your workplace about how to facilitate the learning of Finnish language or differences in working cultures, please contact us!
