SIMHE-Karelia counselling
SIMHE-Karelia provides SIMHE counselling for immigrants who are interested in higher education studies in Finland or who have prior higher education studies from abroad. The counselling is aimed for immigrants who live in North Karelia and South Karelia. SIMHE is an acronym from Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland.
SIMHE counselling refers to a discussion with the SIMHE counsellor either face-to-face or online.
The counselling is free of charge. The counselling is offered in Finnish and English.
SIMHE counselling can help you if:
- you need information on applying to Universities or Universities of Applied Sciences
- you want to explore different studying possibilities
- you need to know how your previous education and competencies can be recognised in Finland
- you need help in planning your career
- you need more information on Finnish language studies
How to book an appointment?
You can book an appointment for a counselling session by sending e-mail to: [email protected] or filling in our counselling request form: https://link.webropol.com/s/simhekarelia. After submitting the form, a Simhe counsellor will contact you to agree on the appointment time and place.
You can also come and visit the SIMHE counsellors without booking an appointment at Luotsi Joensuu (Koskikatu 5). You can see the schedule from Luotsi event calendar.

Education for Immigrants
Karelia UAS provides different types of education for Immigrants. Juttuklubi Joensuu is also aimed for immigrants and it is organized once a month.
