Everyone of us plays an important part in the safety chain. We all need to be able to take action when needed, according to our best abilities.
This safety guide gives instructions on how to act in the event of a fire, accident, injury, sudden attack of illness, or threat. You are encouraged to set a good example. Everyone is responsible to help as best one can.

In an acute instant dangerous situation call the emergency number 112. Emergency assistance is provided by police, rescue services, ambulance service, poison information centre and other emergency authorities.
For more moderate situations Karelia UAS has a security number which is answered by a member of the Safety Group. Call the Safety Group number +358 13 260 6112 and tell the Karelia UAS Safety Group about the situation.
Safety measures at Karelia UAS
Karelia UAS is equipped with the following systems:
- Fire alarm system at Tikkarinne campus and Wärtsilä campus,
- central radio,
- camera surveillance,
- burglar alarm system, electric locks and access control system,
- defibrillators (automated external defibrillators, AEDs)
Please note the following:
- All fire doors shall be kept closed and door stoppers or any other items shall not be used to keep the doors open,
- exterior doors shall be kept closed and door stoppers or any other items shall not be used to keep the doors open,
- computers, coffee makers and other electrical equipment shall be turned off when not in use,
- any dubious or abnormal behaviour in or around the school premises shall be reported to the information desk or report it using QR code.
