A well-being and sports testing station TestLab Mehtimäki meets the needs of a wide audience. It serves as a foundation for offering new sports and wellness services and creates a multidisciplinary learning and research environment for educational institutions. The platform also enables the creation of research-oriented businesses and student-oriented innovation activities. Testlab Mehtimäki opened in 2025 and is being developed by the City of Joensuu, the Sports Institute of Eastern Finland (ISLO), Karelia University of Applied Sciences, and the University of Eastern Finland (UEF). TestLab is physically located in the Joensuu Arena, near Joensuu city center.
Karelia UAS implements services related to the measurement of functional capacity in the premises of TestLab Mehtimäki through the Karelia learning and service environment Tarmo, as well as conducts applied research.
