You can fill in only one application form and apply only one degree programme in the rolling admission.
The admission process is based on rolling admission. Once the study places have been fulfilled, new applications are not considered. Applicants are not placed to the waiting list anymore.
Applicants are required to pay the application fee of 100 euros per academic semester when applying to Finnish higher educational degrees. Read more about the application fee here.
Only complete applications will be processed in order of arrival.
Application is considered to be completed when application form has been sent, application fee has been paid by given deadline and all necessary attachments are attached to it. Attachments must be uploaded by at the same time when submitting the application. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements and student admission criteria. Study places will be offered to the eligible applicants who meet the admission criteria in the order of arrival.
The result of the student selection will be informed by email as soon as the application has been processed.
Eligibility requirements
Applicants must have completed a degree that provides eligibility for higher education studies in the awarding country in question. Degrees must be completed by 9 July 2026.
Required documents to be attached to the application form:
- Copies of the final graduation certificates and transcripts of records.
- If the documents are not in English, Finnish or Swedish, official translations in one of those languages must be enclosed to the application form. Translations must be signed and stamped by authorized translators.
- A copy of a valid passport or official identity card.
Student admission criteria
Four student selection methods are used. You can’t choose the selection method by yourself but you will be considered for all suitable selection methods automatically.

**The language of instruction must be clearly stated on official documents (also in cases where the official language of the degree awarding country is English). You can also document this by submitting a certificate/letter from your university / educational institution in addition to your official study documentation. If the applicant’s degree includes courses conducted in a language other than English, the degree might not meet the requirement.
Only the tests listed above will be accepted. No exceptions will be made.
There are no expiration dates, but the language test results must be verifiable from the online verification service of the organiser until 27 March 2026. The TOEFL test cannot be verified after two years. If the test scores can no longer be verified, the test is not valid. The applicant should make sure that the test results are not too old. If the applicant is unsure and the test results are more than 2 years old, it is advised to retake the test.
Point 1 above: When taking the language test, the applicant should choose Karelia UAS as the recipient of the results, if possible. The applicant must also attach a scanned/electric copy of the test result to the application for verification purposes, and notify their unique identifier.
Point 2 above: If applying with the National Certificate of Language Proficiency (YKI), the unique identifier is not necessary. However, the applicant must attach a scanned/electric copy of the test result to the application for verification purposes.
Points 3-4 above: The applicant must attach a certificate of their previous degrees. The applicant must also attach a document that shows the language of the degree and the country of studies.
Point 5 above: The applicant must attach a certificate of their grade
Required documents to be attached to the application form:
- Copies of the final graduation certificate/diploma and transcript of records/mark sheets/mark statement sheet. Please note that grades are checked from the educational documents.
- If the documents are not in English, Finnish or Swedish, official translations in one of those languages must be enclosed to the application form. Translations must be signed and stamped by an authorized translator.
- Copy of the language proficiency certificate. See list of accepted documents above.
Applicants can be accepted to Karelia UAS with SAT test result.
SAT test sections used for student selection are:
- Evidence-Based Reading and Writing, minimum required points: 400
- Math, minimum required points: 400
Official SAT test results must be available for Karelia UAS by 27 March 2026. Karelia UAS’ SAT code is 7782. Use this code when you want your test scores to be sent to Karelia UAS. Only the new version of SAT test (completed after March 2016) is accepted. SAT Subject Tests are not accepted. An official SAT score report must be ordered straight from the test organiser. Those who have already completed an SAT test must request a test result from the test organiser to be delivered to Karelia UAS. Reports printed or sent by the applicants themselves are not accepted. Check the test dates for SAT test and register at College Board’s website.
Applicants must meet the minimum SAT test score requirements in both SAT sections and fulfill the eligibility requirements. Language proficiency certificate is not required. Application can be proceeded once all the required attachments are enclosed the to the application form and Karelia UAS has received the SAT test results from the College Board. Study places will be filled in the order of arrival of the completed applications.
The result of the student selection will be informed by email as soon as the application has been processed.
Accepting the study place, tuition fee, starting the studies
Information on accepting the study place will be sent by emails to accepted students. Tuition fee is 9 000 – 10 000 euros in academic year. Accepted students will receive two emails.
1) Email with Study place offer from Studyinfo. Study place is accepted electronically by using the link in the email.
2) Email from Karelia UAS (sent from admission(at)karelia.fi). Email includes signed acceptance letter and tuition fee payment instructions.
Important notes for applicants:
- Offered study place must be accepted within 7 days from the study place offer.
- Early bird priced tuition fee, which is -20% of full first-year tuition fee, is available when applicant accepts the study place within 7 days and pays the tuition fee within 20 days.
- If tuition fee is not paid within 20 days, early bird priced fee is not available anymore. Tuition fee must be paid and study place accepted by 9 July 2026 at latest.

Note that you may accept only one offer of admission to a study programme leading to a higher education degree in Finland in education that begins in the same academic term. This means that if you have been accepted to several study programmes in one application or in several applications, you need to choose which offer of admission you wish to accept. When you have accepted the offer, all other study programmes that you have applied to and that begin during the same academic term will be cancelled automatically. Additionally, you cannot be accepted to other study programmes starting in the same academic term after you have accepted an offer of admission. See more here.
