Karelia joined the Climate University network of higher education institutions – sustainable development and climate change courses offered online

Karelia University of Applied Sciences has joined the Climate University network formed by Finnish higher education institutions. Membership offers students of Karelia UAS the opportunity to participate in courses organized by the network as a part of their studies and the opportunity to raise their knowledge of climate change and sustainable development to a new level.

The courses are open to everyone who is interested, and they are implemented as online teaching. In addition to remote assignments, real-time teaching is also available. In order to receive credits from the course, the student must be enrolled in a partner university or an open higher education institution. Climate University’s courses are suitable for students interested in climate change and sustainability topics, teachers and people who are already in working life. The language of the courses is mainly English. Five of the courses are also available in Finnish, and new translations are being worked on.

– Joining the network is a way to offer all Karelia students, as part of their studies, the opportunity to increase their understanding of very important and current themes, such as circular economy systems. We also encourage our teachers to participate in courses and increase their knowledge of these issues, says vice-rector Pekka Auvinen.
