In this rolling application, you can apply to Master of Engineering in Sustainability Management programme.
Instructions for applicants
You can fill in only one application form.
The admission process is based on rolling admission. Once the study places have been fulfilled, new applications are not considered. Applicants are not placed to the waiting list anymore.
Applicants are required to pay the application fee of 100 euros per academic semester when applying to Finnish higher educational degrees. Read more about the application fee here.
Only complete applications will be processed in order of arrival.
Application is considered to be completed when application form has been sent, application fee has been paid by given deadline and all necessary attachments are attached. Attachments must be uploaded by at the same time when submitting the application. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements and admission criteria. Study places will be offered to the eligible applicants who meet the admission criteria in the order of arrival.
Eligibility requirements
Eligibility to apply to Karelia UAS Master’s degree in Sustainability Management is conferred by
- an appropriate UAS Bachelor’s degree or another appropriate higher education degree, and
- at least a minimum of two years (24 months) of subsequent work experience after graduation in a relevant field.
Following degrees give eligibility to apply to this programme:
- Bachelor of Engineering
- Bachelor of Natural Resources
- Bachelor of Health Care, Biomedical Laboratory Science
- Construction architect
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degrees in the field of natural resources or environmental sciences or
- Other applicable Bachelor or Master level degrees or higher levels with relevant work experience of the fields of the degree
Work experience
The work experience (a minimum of two years (24 months) must be relevant for the studies, i.e. from professional or managerial positions after graduation.
The prerequisite for eligibility is at least two years (24 months) of work experience in the relevant field after completing a degree that meets the basic education requirement. The relevant field is considered to be the field to which the applicant is applying and the field from which the degree that meets the basic education requirement is. Work experience must be acquired and will be published on 31 July 2026.
Work experience is fully reported in months. The applicant must convert the hours of part-time work (work less than 35 hours/week) into full-time so that 150 hours or 20 working days of at least 7 hours corresponds to one month.
The work does not have to be continuous or acquired with the same employer. You can only get work experience points from parallel employment in the amount equivalent to full-time employment.
Work experience is checked against copies of work certificates, which applicants submit in the application form.
The work certificate to be submitted is written in a language other than Finnish, Swedish or, in addition to a copy of the certificate in the official language of the applicant, is a translation made by an official translator into Finnish, Swedish or English, which shows the translator’s name, signature and stamp.
Conscript or civilian service or medical leave do not count as work experience. Entrepreneurship is accepted as work experience if there is a certificate stating that the applicant is or has been YEL or MYEL insured. (YEL=entrepreneur’s pension insurance, MYEL=employment pension insurance for farmers, forest owners, fishermen and reindeer herders and family members).
Foreign entrepreneurship is proven with corresponding official documents.
Student admission criteria
Student selection method is pre-assignment and online interview. Please read carefully the instructions for pre-assignment and interview process. Applicants write a pre-assignment task and return it within 7 days from submitting the application. See Instructions for pre-assigment below.
Interview
After the applicant has returned the pre-assignment, the instructions for booking the interview time is sent by email. Applicant makes a reservation for the interview from the available interview slots. Interviews are held every week. Applicant participates the interview online.
Applicant must pass successfully pre-assigment and interview to be selected to the education.
Results of student selection
Results of student selection will be published weekly after the pre-assignmet and interview are evaluated and education documents and work certificates have been checked. Information of student admission results will be sent by email.
