Thrash plogging event in the sports afternoon on October 4, 2023

The University of Eastern Finland, Savonia UAS, Karelia UAS, the SYKETTÄ sports service of higher education institutions and Savo vocational college Sakky and North Karelia’s educational community association Riveria will jointly organize the “Roska liikkuu” garbage collection event in two provinces on October 3-4, 2023. Come and collect trash either alone or in a group. Let’s spread around cities and provinces!

The event is connected to a part sports afternoon on October 4. from 12:00 to 16:00.

Karelia’s students participate in the campaign as part of the sports afternoon program, collecting trash by walking or running (plogging). We offer participants garbage bags and gloves at the campuses’ event points. Karelia University of Applied Sciences event points are located in the main lobbies of the Tikkarinne and Wärtsilä campuses. There is also a limited number of garbage tongs and attention vests. If you have your own garbage tongs or garden gloves, please bring them along.

Collected trash can be returned to the event point or to public/private trash cans.

We hope that after the event, each group or individual collector will report the number of garbage bags they have collected in this survey.

The event was inspired by the Million trash bags campaign, and is a continuation of the Everyday small eco-deeds challenge implemented by the University of Eastern Finland and part of the university’s Responsibility communication project.
