Have you completed the prepara­tory programme for Higher Educa­tion Studies in English (Prep­Prog)? If you have, you can apply for English-taught degree programmes in Karelia UAS in a sepa­rate call for appli­ca­tions 15 April – 16 May 2024.

Eligi­bil­ity

You must have

  • a qual­i­fi­ca­tion giving access to higher education
  • and 30 credits of field specific (busi­ness, social and health sciences, engi­neer­ing or multi­dis­ci­pli­nary) prepara­tory train­ing for higher educa­tion, in line with national recom­men­da­tions. The prepara­tory studies must be completed by 31 May 2024.

Students are selected on the basis of their acad­e­mic perfor­mance in a foreign-language prepara­tory course for univer­sity studies, without a sepa­rate selec­tion test, accord­ing to the follow­ing selec­tion criteria:

Selec­tion criteria

Section 1: Average number of credits (30 credits in total) in foreign language prepara­tory course:

Prepa­ra­tion for higher educa­tion (6 credits), prepara­tory studies in math­e­mat­ics (3 credits), prepara­tory studies in English (6 credits), prepara­tory studies in Finnish or Swedish (5 credits) and field-specific studies (10 credits) Minimum total score 2 points.

Section 2: Grade for the English language course in the prepara­tory train­ing, (6 credits). Minimum total score 3 points.

Section 3: Grade for a math­e­mat­ics course in prepara­tory educa­tion (3 credits). Minimum total score 2 points.

The selec­tion is based on the total number of points obtained in these three sections. The total score must be at least seven points.

Scoring
Grade 5 = 5 points
Grade 4 = 4 points
Grade 3 = 3 points
Grade 2 = 2 points
Grade 1 = 0 points

 In the event of a tie, the order of prece­dence shall be deter­mined as follows:

  1. Appli­ca­tion prior­ity order
  2. Those who have completed field-specific studies in engi­neer­ing will be priori­tised for IM and ICT degrees and those who have completed busi­ness studies will be priori­tised for the IB degree.
  3. The average grade of English language courses in a prepara­tory course.

If these crite­ria do not result in a ranking, the system will choose the student to be selected by drawing lots.

Fill in the appli­ca­tion at Opintopolku.fi during the appli­ca­tion period on 15.4. – 16.5.2024 at 15.00. You can choose up to three appli­ca­tion options. Put your appli­ca­tions in order of preference.

From here you can go directly to the appli­ca­tion form. (The appli­ca­tion form will open on 15.4.2024 at 8.00.)

The programmes will start in August 2024.

A sepa­rate appli­ca­tion is covered by the one study place per term provi­sion. You can only accept one place for a degree programme in the same semester.
