LECTURER IN INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY

The cont­ract of emplo­y­ment is perma­nent as of 1st August 2024.

We are seeking a dedica­ted Lectu­rer to join our dynamic team in the Bache­lor of Engi­nee­ring program, specia­lizing in Infor­ma­tion and Commu­nica­tion Tech­no­logy (ICT). This role is ideal for someone passio­nate about shaping future engi­neers and advancing the field through applied research and development.

Key Respon­si­bi­li­ties:
– Teac­hing: Deliver enga­ging and compre­hen­sive lectu­res in ICT with a focus on prac­tical applica­tions and current industry prac­tices. Areas covered include but are not limited to Data Engi­nee­ring and DataOps.
– Student Guidance: Acti­vely super­vise and mentor students in their acade­mic projects, theses, and interns­hips, foste­ring a suppor­tive and produc­tive lear­ning envi­ron­ment.
– Research and Deve­lop­ment: Engage in cutting-edge research within your area of exper­tise, cont­ri­bu­ting to the department’s goals and expan­ding the fron­tiers of ICT. Colla­bo­rate on inter­discipli­nary projects to apply ICT solu­tions to real-world problems.
– Commu­nity Cont­ri­bu­tion: Partici­pate in depart­men­tal acti­vi­ties, curricu­lum deve­lop­ment, and initia­ti­ves aimed at enric­hing the acade­mic community.

Essen­tial compe­tence:
– Proven exper­tise in Data Engi­nee­ring and DataOps
– Exper­tise in Data analy­tics
– Demon­stra­ted ability to work effec­ti­vely in multicul­tu­ral and multi­discipli­nary teams
– Proficiency in English both oral and written CEFR-level B1 (advanced) for effec­tive teac­hing and commu­nica­tion
– Strong inter­per­so­nal and commu­nica­tion skills
– Finnish both oral and written CEFR-level B1

In addi­tion to essen­tial compe­tence, applicant should have an exper­tise in at least one of the following areas:
– Machine Lear­ning, Data Mining, and Arti­ficial Intel­li­gence
– Infor­ma­tion Secu­rity
– Compu­ter Networks
– Inter­net of Things (IoT) and IoT Program­ming
– API Program­ming
– Intel­li­gent Auto­ma­tion Systems
– Busi­ness Process Mana­ge­ment and Workflow Automation

The success­ful perfor­mance of the posi­tion will prima­rily require working on Karelia’s campuses in Joensuu.

Applicants are requi­red to have an appropriate Master of Science in Tech­no­logy degree in an infor­ma­tion and commu­nica­tion tech­no­logy or a compu­ting discipline, and minimum three years profes­sio­nal expe­rience in the field. Expe­rience in teac­hing is consi­de­red an advantage.

The eligi­bi­lity requi­re­ments for the posi­tion are in accor­dance with the Decree on Univer­sity of Applied Sciences (A1129/18.12.2014). In addi­tion, peda­go­gical studies of at least 35 credits or 60 ECTS credits, which may also be comple­ted within three years of the start of the emplo­y­ment, are requi­red. The terms and condi­tions for the emplo­y­ment and the salary are deter­mi­ned in accor­dance with the Sivista general collec­tive agree­ment for UAS. The salary is 4471,82-6146,83 EUR per month, inclu­ding expe­rience supple­ment. A six-month proba­tio­nary period is applied to all new members of the staff.

A UAS teacher has 12 weeks of holiday period, 8 weeks of which are in the summer. As a teacher, you can choose when and where you work for at least 28% of your working time. Teac­hers work 1600 hours per acade­mic year.
