I arrived in Finland in 2023 to begin a new chapter as an ICT student at Karelia UAS and it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made. I completed my degree in just two semesters and graduated on 20 June 2024. The pace was intense, but the supportive environment at Karelia made every challenge manageable.
Karelia stands out as a place where teachers really invest in students. From day one I felt welcomed: lecturers were approachable, feedback was constructive, and classmates quickly became collaborators. Campus life was lively and friendly small moments like group coding sessions, late-afternoon coffee with classmates, and presenting our projects in front of encouraging peers are memories I’ll always keep.
Strengthening technical confidence
During my studies I worked with Node.js and React.js, converting older projects into modern interfaces practical experience that strengthened my technical confidence. My thesis took two months of intense work; Explaining complex ideas was hard at times, but I completed the project and presented it successfully. That experience improved my problem-solving skills and taught me how to communicate technical work clearly a skill that’s already proved valuable in my professional life.

Karelia’s diverse student community broadened my perspective and made teamwork richer. Interacting with classmates from different backgrounds helped me approach problems more creatively and adapt quickly to new working styles.
Adding confidence and communication skills to technical knowledge
After graduating I began working as a salesperson at S-PKO, where my customer service experience and technical background fit well together. Karelia prepared me not only with technical skills, but also with confidence and communication skills that I use every day.
I’m deeply thankful to Karelia University of Applied Sciences for giving me such an inspiring and supportive environment to grow both personally and professionally. My sincere thanks go to all my teachers, classmates, and staff members who guided and encouraged me throughout my journey.
Karelia will always hold a special place in my heart it’s not just where I earned my degree, but where I discovered my confidence, passion, and direction for the future.
